About the Book
Jackson is just like any other pigeon you might see in New York, except for one thing, he is afraid of heights. Poor Jackson can only listen to the stories the other pigeons tell and feels very left out. One day all that changes when Jackson has to face his fear head on. His life changes dramatically when he is forced to take a leap of faith.
About the Author
Cheryl Hughes is an English and Media teacher. She loves New York and has been teaching students there from all over the world. She was born in Shropshire in the United Kingdom and has been a teacher for many years. She has also worked as a freelance journalist, and took her own photographs for her articles. She has also worked in Houston Texas, teaching students on the IB course. She has facilitated writing workshops both in the UK and USA.
She did a joint honours English Literature and Education degree at Keele University and has continued to enjoy literature ever since. She has had some of her poetry published and continues to write in many literary forms, including for young children.
"Jackson was an idea that came to mind one hot day whilst sitting in Central Park. I was thinking about the freedom being able to fly would give me and how wonderful it would be to have the ability to fly over this beautiful city."
She has one son, Bill, who is a student in Oxford.
