You're Moving Where?!

Gus is moving to the country. He has never been to the country, nor have any of his friends, but they all tell him that it’s awful. Wanda says there are rabid raccoons and Lester tells him that bats fly down the chimney while you sleep and build a nest in your hair. Tyree adds that in the country, when Halloween comes, real witches look for kids to make into gingerbread.

His mom sees that Gus has not packed his Teddy bear, Roscoe, and says, “Gus, I haven’t seen Roscoe for a long time; I thought you packed him with your other toys.” Gus quietly answers, “I thought he might get lonely, so I’m bringing him along.” Gus’s dad says, “That was nice of you,” as he smiles at his wife. Gus looks little and lonely waving goodbye to his friends. He wonders what awaits him at the new place.
