About the Author

Al Barry was an offensive lineman in the 1950's. Al played from 1949-43 University of Southern California - 1954 & 1957 Green Bay Packers - 1958 & 1959 New York Giants - 1960 Los Angeles (San Diego) Chargers. Al's biggest thrill was being the starting left guard #68 in the National Football League Championship Game played on December 28th, 1958, at Yankee Stadium in New York City. The Baltimore Colts defeated the New York Giants 23-17 in the first ever NFL game to go into sudden death overtime. This game has been heralded as "The Greatest Game Ever Played". Some NFL greats who played and coached in this game were Vince Lombardi, offense and Tom Landry, defense for the Giants - Frank Gifford - Rosy Grier - Pat Summerall - Sam Huff - Jack Kemp - Giant players; and Joynny Unitas, Raymond Berry, Alan Ameche and Coach Weeb Ewbank of the Colts.
