About the Book

- I speak of victory, not victim, triumph and not defeat; I have buried hopelessness in the cemetery of compete; the slum was not born in me, but in the born elite; what once left me void; I have conquered to become complete; all my life has been a rock climb, traveled in the bareness of my feet.

excerpt from title poem: "Rock Climbing With My Bare Feet".  Rock Climbing With My Bare Feet is a collection of poetry that encompasses themes such as internal struggle, women empowerment, motivation, political consciousness, perserverance and a variety of other topics.  These themes, among others, are structured into chapters to make an easier read for the audience.  The chapter titles are brilliantly named so that the reader can identify the theme of each chapter.  Chapters include Who Am I To Be Me?, the author's favorite More Importantly: I AM A WOMAN, Ditchin' Demons In a Deep Depression, Life Should Be Motivation Enough, I Wouldn't Even Trade My Mind (For a Sane One), Rock Climbing With My Bare Feet, Citizen's Arrest, Life's Waves Won't Knock Me Over, Featuring: I Wait on Words!

Be prepared to be intellectually challenged, spiritually moved, and genuinely entertained!  For young and mature readers alike, of all cultures and ethnicities.

About the Author

Treasure H. Keith was born November 6,1984 in Hampton, Va, later raised in Roanoke Rapids, NC.  She began writing poetry at the age of 6; her first poem "You Can Do It!" was featured in Anthrology's Book of Poetry by Young Authors.  Treasure graduated from Athens Drive High School in Raleigh, NC in 2003; she shortly attended North Carolina State University before relocating to Virginia Beach, Va. During high school she served on the school's newspaper and literary magazine staffs. Early in her writing career, she has received many honors such as International Poetry Society's (the world's largest poetry membership) "Editor's Choice Award" twice for her terza rima "Unshaken Silence", published in 2007.  In the same year she was cordially invited to attend International Poetry Society's Annual "Poet of the Year" contest held in Las Vegas, NV.

I write as therapy for my demons. The demons that become more revealing as one gets to know me more intimately, my strip tease demons that make scratches at my soul, ripping it apart layers at a time.  Writing never heals my afflictions, only gives me temporary detachment from it as my reality.   Here I am, removed from my yesterday hopeful in the new day’s fog; I stand, nothing less than all of me.
