About The Author

Tammy Morgan is a Texas native and mother of 17 year-old son D’erre Williams. She continues to reside in Fort Worth as she fulfills her passion of working with youth and young adults and love of the Arts.  She has worked with youth for many years at Bee and Bell Daycare, Bethlehem United Center, Fort Worth ISD, Boys and Girls Club of Greater Fort Worth, Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and Amaka/YMCA Preschool.

In 2000 while working with youth at the Boys and Girls Club, Miss Morgan became the Founder and Director of S.L.A.C. (Students Learning About Culture) Club Productions, a Youth Performing Arts Company.  SLAC Club Productions offered education and specific training in dance, music, drama, and creative writing with original material hand picked, choreographed, and written by Morgan. It was then when she saw the need to expose and share the youth experiences to all who was unaware of the real situations youth are faced with, so she started to write plays.

Miss Morgan also volunteers on the support team of Next Level Enterprises where she helps to organize and host spoken word and Jazz events with her mentor Minister Andre Johnson who is a motivational speaker through poetry.

Morgan also fulfills her love of the Arts as she debuted as an actress and singer in the Musical “I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change at Tarrant County College and volunteers at the Jubilee Theater.

Miss Morgan currently spends her time mentoring youth both officially and unofficially in the TEAM FWISD Mentor Program, and continues to help youth she has worked with in the past to become productive and successful young adults. She is also launching a youth organization of her own called Proactive Planning Youth Development Services where that provides life skills, event planning, and play production for organizations seeking help to keep their youth focused.

Miss Morgan has pored her heart and soul into her book, Urban Reality: A Collection of Youth Plays that has been 8 years in the making.  She hopes this book will shed light on the daily struggles of our youth and deter any youth from going down the wrong path.  As life imitates art, Morgan has found that one of her youth has recently been faced with a situation that the character Reggie in Choices was up against.  The circumstance he found himself in drives home the fact that this book is really needed in our community.

Tammy Morgan has dedicated her life to her passion of working with youth and young adults and her love of the Arts. She gives freely of her time to the young people she currently works with and youth she has worked with in the past.  When asked why does she give so much of herself, she has repeatedly said “working with youth and young adults is not just a job for me, it is my Ministry”.
