Spirit to Spirit to Spirit but What Spirit?

"Absent From the Body"

The above scripture has a special relevance for me. Many years ago I had to have major surgery. You've heard the old expression, the surgery was a success but the patient died. In a way, that is what happened to me. The surgery was a definite success but somehow in the process of recovery shortly after the surgery, I left my body.

I opened my eyes and looked around only to see incredible white walls in the room I was in. I was laying down in a prone position flat on my back and looking up. The room was lit it seemed from the white walls. I could see fine. I thought, "Where am I?" I lifted up my left arm and wiggled my fingers. There was no corporality to my body. I knew my body was there because I had hands and fingers that moved. I wiggled my toes. They wiggled too! I was not in my body and yet I could see, I could feel, I could move, I could breath. I raised up my head to look at my feet and had a knowing that they were there but could not see them as I saw them when I was in my body. I had no flesh or corporality.

I looked down over my left shoulder and saw the roof of the hospital, as well as the floors in between and my hospital room opened up. The hole I was looking through looked like it had been opened with a jagged can opener. Then I saw my body! I said, "That is my body down there on that bed!" Turning back away from the hospital sight, I asked myself a question, "What is my body doing down there on that bed?" I did not have the answer to that question!
