About the Book
What happens when a fun-loving, flip-flopping-round-in-every-direction disc decides he’s grown up enough to leave home? Scribble Dribble is the story of a boy’s journey to find the Land of True Happiness. This fictional fantasy will take you to a world where discs come to life.
The story begins with the birth of a disc named Scribble Dribble. When Scribble grows older, he decides to leave the comfort of his home. Along his journey, he meets another disc, named Spinbeez. Scribble gets off his path to the Land of True Happiness, only to have the other discs begin ridiculing him. Scribble then has to decide what he really wants in life.
A picture book for all ages, Scribble Dribble utilizes youth-oriented descriptive language. Young children, especially, are sure to enjoy reading about Scribble Dribble’s adventures, and how he overcomes the obstacles he encounters. The story stresses the principle that although there may be hurdles along the roads we travel, we should understand the value of our individual goals and never give up on our dreams. The story’s underlying theme is the importance of persistence, confidence, and finding one’s own joy. Most of all, it teaches us to trust in ourselves.
Scribble Dribble is a character who is warm and easy to love. And through his journey, he becomes enlightened, which nurtures him. This helps teach children, and reminds adults, to accept themselves.
About the Author
Tasneem Montgomery has been writing stories for as long as she can remember. She began writing music lyrics and screenplays, and then, at ten years of age, found joy in writing for children. As a child, Tasneem actively enlisted the neighborhood children to act in her plays that she had written. She, of course, would play the role of screenplay writer and director. Tasneem took many high school and college literature courses, and one of her high school teachers encouraged her to pursue a career in children’s literature.
After graduating from college, while on a plane bound for Chicago, she was inspired to write Scribble Dribble. She believes it is a story that gives us hope—that despite any obstacles, with positive persistence we can overcome and achieve our goals and dreams.
The author accounts her mother, Audrey, as her biggest inspiration for writing. As a child, her mother used to draft stories and poems for her younger brother and herself. Tasneem became inspired to publish her stories when, in 2007, her mother published Destiny’s Footprints, Leaning How to Release Karmic Patterns, which can be found at authorhouse.com.
Tasneem holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology and a master’s degree in industrial organizational psychology. For twelve years, she worked as a consultant and trainer for diversity, conflict resolution, and meditation programs. Currently, Tasneem is a stay-at-home mom and children’s writer. This is her first published children’s book, and she plans to continue writing more books about the adventures of Scribble Dribble.
