I don’t know what it’s like now, but when I was in the county jail it was the absolute pits. The first thing I noticed was the noise level. Unbelievable how noisy the place was, but I guess that’s what you would expect, being in a space with thousands of other people all talking at the same time. I once saw an old movie called “Snake Pit,” with Olivia de Havilland. Old movie on late night t.v. … that’s what the county jail was like for me. Crowded into a “dorm,” we had double/bunk beds, with barely enough space for aisles. It took me about two weeks to overcome a mild case of claustrophobia. Looking the situation over carefully, I immediately dipped into my Machiavelli. I needed to enlist some mercenaries if I was going to survive in this pit. Of course a few of the people there knew who I was, or they knew me by reputation. They had definitely heard about my Dad’s going away party, all of the hip people had heard about that. I fell right in with the thugs who knew me, and surrounded myself with them. Compared to them I was rich, a celebrity almost. And I started dispensing cigarettes and candy bars to the needy from the first hour.

About the Book
First off I have to say this loud and make it very clear from the very beginning; I am a descendant of one of the royal houses of African-American pimping. Let me add, I am a proud descendant. I know what I’m about to tell you is going to rustle some feathers, make no mistake about that, but that’s the way it’s been with me all my pimping life. When I say I’m a descendant of one of the royal houses, I mean it. I can back it up with bona fide DNA/geneo-logical evidence. Now then, having said that, I want to make it clear that my economic/sexual activities stem directly from my introduction to “The Prince” by Niccolo Machiavelli and “The Kama Sutra,” that love treatise for the ages. And, my life long dream to explore an area of human endeavor that has seldom been explained in any reasonable way. I’d like to make that the linchpin word for this book, reasonable.
About the Author
Odie Hawkins has had/is having a prolific writing life. He has written screenplays, radio scripts, stage plays, newspaper columns, collections of short stories, in addition to his twenty published novels. Jan. 2011 he was a panelist at the Modern Language Assoc. at the Hilton, LA Live. He will be re-issuing the original "Sweet Peter Deeder" and publishing the final book of the "Sweets" series "Lil Sweets" in 2012.
