The Bio-Dome Project

“(Old David & Present Day) My name is David Greess and I’m an old man these days.  My body has withered and shrunk over the years to what I am today.  My hair has turned grey; my eyes have darkened and have grown empty.  The years have been good to me more or less.  For the past several years I have lived alone and have remained secluded here in my home.  People have left me alone for many years now and I have grown to accept that part of my life.  CeeCee has become my intimate friend over these last lonely years.  My mind grows fragmented and feeble.  However, at my age, that is to be expected.  In about six hours it will be the 23^rd century, and I’m 134 years old.  Time has seemed to stand still since she has been gone and erased from my life.  But that is a long story. Today’s date is December 31^st, 2199. A lot has changed since I was a young man, and now it’s the right time to tell the story of how and why I came to be here today.” 

“Ever since my former company developed “The Bio-Dome Project” back in 2078, people started to live longer.  Some how the U.V.A. protective agent that was put in between the layers of glass and along with the transparent solar panels that were embedded into the glass panels that surrounded the sides of the complex some how slowed down the aging process.  No one knew how or why at the time, but we do now. When the glass dome and the glass side panels were installed, and the sun shown through; it caused the body to start producing important vitamins and minerals that are naturally produced and released in the body when the sun hits the skin.  When the vitamins and minerals were released (such as the vitamin B family) it strengthened the body’s natural aging process and so on.  But of course, technology has ever so advanced since then.  My goodness, the longest person who ever lived died three years ago at 143 and it was due to LFLV accident.  We didn’t stop the aging process; however, we just slow it down.  People still died, but not so early in their lives; which, was a good thing apparently and yes, you heard me correctly, I did say 143.” 

“It seems like yesterday that I was a young man running a vigorous and robust company.  I still remember when my father handed the reins over to me.  I knew some of what dad was doing and how the company worked.  Dad took me to work on many occasions. Now let me tell you about my former company, and the greatest love of my life.  The year was 2068.  My father was retiring from the company and being’s that I was the only son in the family, the company went to me.  My sisters really didn’t want anything to do with it.  Not that they didn’t love our father, they just had other dreams that they wanted to follow.  My father wasn’t upset over the fact that the girls didn’t want to follow in their father’s footsteps.  But I most certainly did.  Like I said, I was 18 when I took over my father’s company known as Greess International.  I was young and single back then and I was 28 years old.  I had been the president of Greess International for the last 10 years.” 

“(Present Day) I woke up and sat up in bed.  I looked out the window and gazed upon the morning light and the nice breeze that was blowing gently through my bedroom windows.  The air was pure, innocent and full of life.  I jumped to my feet from my bed and started my morning routine.  You know the usual stuff.  I had asked CeeCee to make some coffee and start a nice warm shower for me.  I had several meetings this morning starting at 10am.  One was with a woman by the name of Michelle Thomas.”
