Wife and Children

On some occasions, I often think to myself whether I might have had a wife and children under other circumstances. I often think about this and I suppose I will never know but I never really thought about it before my stroke or when I was younger. I really couldn’t see myself settling down with a commitment like that and, in fact, at that time all I could ever think about was my weight training as it made me feel good. It would be nice to know what would have happened to me if I hadn’t started weight training, or indeed, hadn’t gone out on the night of my stroke. It’s easy to say "What if?", but of course, we will never know what might have been. Somehow I don’t think that I was ready for a family as I was quite set in my ways and liked being independent. Sometimes I shed a little tear or two, just thinking about it, but it’s nice to know that my brothers are now married and settled down with their own children. I sometimes watch my brothers’ children and I must admit that at times they seem to be a handful, but I suppose that is the same in any family. I think that maybe I would have decided not to have children due to the fact that I’m not very tolerant when there is a lot of screaming and shouting going on or other loud noises! I know that this happens in most families but I really couldn’t see myself settling down and trying to get used to family life.
