The Leonard family put their children to bed...
Told their little ones stories and lay side by side together talking of the day’s events when they heard their child scream.
Bolting to his feet and grabbing the bat behind the door.
Melvin ran with his wife not far behind into the bedroom of their younger daughter Sheila, still screaming with terror.
The mother took her child into her arms calming her as the father continued through the house checking adjacent rooms. “Shush honey you’ll wake your sister and brother.”
“They took him,” the young girl cried hysterically, tears streaming, “they took him!”
Melvin had the baby Mela in his hand as he came into the room; after checking the rooms he had thought Shali, protective of his sister had run to her screams and her room upon not seeing the boy he asked, “Where is Shali?” “They took him!”
The girl looked as if she were about to throw up with the words and effort.
Both parents looked at the older girl in terror finally realizing what she was saying. “Who took him?”
Melvin advanced forward laying the toddler upon the bed.
The toddler crawled to her mother raising the bed cloth as she rose using her mother as a brace trying to wipe her eyes with the covering as her father took her sister tenderly but firmly by the hands holding them within his, continuing his questioning.
“Baby-listen to daddy who took your brother?”
“Melvin-wait!” Sheila interrupted, “Sheila its ok just tell us who took Shali ok honey!”
Tears where streaming down- the older woman’s face but she was trying to stay focused and calm for her children.
Little Sheila looked up at them beseechingly.
“I couldn’t stop them momma, daddy they put they hands on my mouth; I thought they was going to kill me. They told me don’t say nothing or they kill me they went out the side door.”
The words were said as if an attack of asthma in progress.

About the Book
Friends Shalidan Leonard and Shayanna Michaels were each happy living in the relatively New Municipality of New Las Vegas.
The city was created to replace its Government evacuated twin years earlier.
The two young people, African American called blacacan now are attending college both young and hopeful for the future. Yet State Senator Uresa Raychelle; mentor and associate did send them into Old Las Vegas.
The Senator believes that as she serves with two Presidents and colleagues whose real agendas are unsure; that the New Symbiotic Government must ask these young people to sacrifice.
Shalidan must fulfill what he was born to do for the greater good of the Nation perhaps the world. As for Shayanna; the Senator suspects the young man will resist it but the young woman may become a victim of the time. With this obligation upon them; it becomes heavier.
Shalidan and Shayanna have become wanted fugitives under penalty of death. Hounded by the various Governmental agencies and watched by mercenaries and inhabitants alike. Shali and Shaya do not know whom to trust amongst a sea of deception and uncertain loyalties.
The young Shali must figure out a centuries old puzzle of which he is a piece.
The young Shaya must find within herself to trust or die at the hands of the cities forgotten inhabitants.
New and old allies or enemies come and go for the two.
Will Shaya survive the city with Shali or will Shali have to sacrifice her and his affections for the greater good of billions living?
Evading confinement, death and inadequacy; the two blacacan youth press on to the future.

C. E. Brown of Detroit Michigan has come onboard as co-author of the series with an interest in Poetry and Modeling pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice.
