About the Author

Sequoia Alexander is a proud native of Baltimore, Maryland. She is a graduate of Bowie State University and Towson University. She is currently a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, with experience providing case management and therapy to youth and adults, particularly in the inner city. Sequoia’s goal is for this book to begin conversations, with young children, about their future and excite them about wanting to be exposed to college. Sequoia was inspired to write this story by her two younger sisters who, beginning at six and seven years old, would often visit her on campus. Being a first generation college student, Sequoia wanted to expose her sisters to a college atmosphere, so they would be motivated to pursue whatever future goal they created. Dionne Lee Benton is a mother of three, whose greatest joy is spending time with her three grandchildren. Dionne is a native of Wisconsin and currently resides in Michigan. Most of Dionne’s art is self-taught through inspiration and finding joy in all art forms. Dionne enjoys creating many modalities of art including drawing, designing, painting, crafting, fondant décor, creating ceramics, and more. Dionne has developed her artistic skills for more than 20 years. Dionne hopes that you enjoy this book because she has been inspired to create and perfect accurate drawings to bring this story to life.
