scarecrow.

the black widow spider

and her aroma.
against the
full moon, a bird spreads it's wings
like a coin.

This style has been getting popular in various colleges throughout the United States. Modern Haiku consists of less than the 5-7-5 traditional Japanese style poetry and has been and is being published in numerous anthologies and literary magazines throughout the world.
About the Author
Tom Phelan has been published in newspapers; literary magazines; and anthologies throughout the US and in Ireland. He's been listed in Who's Who in Writers, Editors and Poets; presented with an Author's Award by the NJ Institute of Technology; featured in the New York Times On Books column; he was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in poetry; won 7 Golden Poet Awards; 3 International Poet of the Year Trophies; and presented with the Gold Medal of Honor in Poetry.
