Sometimes the view is obscure,
doubt veils the skies.
When you get there will you let me see
Heaven through your eyes?
Tell me if the streets are golden,
if the sea is crystal blue.
Are the meadows blanketed
with radiant green hue?
I'd love to hear from my loved ones,
would you give them a message from me?
Let them know I keep them close
in fondest memory.
Are the angels as lovely
as they are captured in paint?
Is God's throne surrounded
by hallowed saints?
So many questions
that faith answers the most.
Confirmation would be mine
with you as my Heavenly host.
When you arrive
and you go to your room prepared,
tell me what it's like
in your new home there.
When you were here,
our dream of Heaven
was one of beauty, perfect love,
and absolute peace.
Is it one or all of these?
If you could let me see Heaven
through your eyes,
it would help dry the tears
pouring from mine.
Heaven seemed so real
with you here beside me.
Please let me know
if it's all we hoped it would be.
I know you're tired from your journey,
I'll be patient while you rest.
Anticipating a glimpse of Heaven
through the eyes of one of God's best.

About the Book
“A Love Like This” is dedicated to Debbie’s husband, J. David (Dave) Hilton. These poems are inspired by Dave and her steadfast belief in God, with whom Dave now dwells. They date from their first meeting, through their growing friendship, leading to their budding romance and wedding, through life and death until today; a love story told in poems. They also reflect the pain and anguish of personal loss. It is the author’s hope that “A Love Like This” provides some insight into what God can do for those who believe, and bring a measure of His comfort into a world that is all too uncertain.
