Timeless

            “Do you enjoy this?” he asked.

            “Yes, it makes sense to me. You can’t lie with numbers. They will always add up,” she whispered. “Logan, if I told you something that sounded extremely farfetched and insane, would you hold it against me?”

            “I knew you were attracted to me,” he said and Emily could hear the smile in his voice and glad he couldn’t see the blush on her cheeks.

            “That’s not what I was going to say, but it is an example of farfetched and insane.”

            “Touché,” he murmured, “so what is your idea of farfetched and insane?”

            “Time travel,” she said after a pause and held her breath.

            “You always have to one up me don’t you, sweetheart?” he chuckled softly and patted her hands. She pulled them back a little thrilled he used an endearment, disappointed that he didn’t seem interested.

            “What would you think if I could prove it?” she asked. Logan turned in his chair and looked at her.

            “Are you trying to tell me that you’ve traveled through time? Emily, you’ve outdone yourself this time.”

            “Just forget I even brought it up, Logan,” Emily whispered and walked back around the desk and sat down preparing to drown in work once more.

            “You look troubled,” she heard him say after a few minutes.

            “So, what?”

            “Does this have to do with time travel?” he asked cautiously.

            “As a matter of fact it does, Logan. I don’t belong here, not this century at least,” at his raised brows Emily went in for the plunge. “My birthday is August 13^th –“

            “I’ll make a note of that,” Logan cut in.

            “1979.” When Logan went to interrupt her again, she raised her hand to silence him. “Yeah, I find it hard to believe myself. You know it took me a full week to finally come to terms I’m either having a neurotic breakdown over not succeeding because I am still single and therefore out of control, or I’m really in the 19^th century. It’s believable that I am certifiable, I haven’t had a vacation in four years, my love life is non existence to a point that I’ve never even had sex –“

            “Emily!”

            “I’m telling you the truth, Logan.”

            “I don’t doubt that you’re a virgin, but everything else–“

            “I can prove it,” she said softly.
