Pg.76 His feet were thundering, the wind pushing against me and whistling in my ears! I leaned forward to cut it's resistance. I laid my head over his neck, which for the first time was straight out, as if stretching for the finish line to touch it with his nose. The ears were back. Was he listening for my reaction? He was streamline like an arrow. His flowing mane was in my face. If I had a hat, it was gone now! I glanced at the gravel road passing beneath us, it was a blur! "Oh, what if he fell,"I thought, " We would surely be injured or killed at this speed!" "He won't!" " But what if I fell?" "I can't"! I turned my head and saw the others far behind. The gravel stones were flying from his hooves. It was smooth, like flying! The reins hung limp in my hand, relaxed, he had his head and he was showing his great speed!

About the Book

About the Author
I wrote the material near 1973. I had a wonderful boyhood with the horses and wanted to get, at least, some of my experiences documented for family and others to, hopefully, enjoy. Also it was sort of a monument to those wonderful horses. Currently the author lives in Northern Michigan on a small farm. His 3 children have had their pony and various horses, calves, ducks, chickens and sheep, etc. Now young Grandchildren come to the farm and feed the horses carrots and apples and ride them.
