| So many seasons passed. Each day I would look for my father to come home or at least call. I would cry myself to sleep night after night, aching for his return. I would say those begging type prayers where you would fold your knuckles together and plead please, please, please, a dozen times or more. I know a lot of people would blame God and wonder how I could believe in such a God. It goes back to the fact that God has given us free will. We are given choices to make. My father chose to leave his life as it was. How can we blame God for that? I chose to believe that God was hearing my prayer and was going to help me in whatever it was I had to face. My choice was to believe in God and I am so thankful for that belief during this ordeal. For with God I was okay. He loved me no matter what! God gives us so many blessings in the world, yet rarely do you hear, "How could God do that? How could He give me something or someone so special?" It seems to be man's nature to look at the negative and to have to blame things on someone or God. |

The Ink Pen is a memoir of a daughter's relationship with her father in his presence and his absence. The author delves into her past to show the love of a child for a parent and a gift given out of that love that actually goes beyond the gift itself. It is written with the intentions of honoring God and showing gratitude for everything, even when life doesn't seem fair. The memories penned in the Ink Pen are actually written through the eyes of a child looking through the telescope of her past. It may tug at your heartstrings but is meant to give spiritual enlightenment to this journey of life, hoping to encourage anyone going through patches of strife. The Ink Pen is not a book about right or wrong, rather a book about love. The Ink Pen, a little book about a big love.
About the Author
| Although Merry Lorenz has been writing for many years, this is her first novel. Divinely driven, Merry wrote The Ink Pen by delving into her past life experiences in hopes of reaching anyone lost in the confusion of their past. She feels that we live a lot from what we have learned, but we can also learn alot from what we have lived. Merry has been writing greeting cards and poetry for over 15 years and is currently establishing a business to continue that work.
