The one and only engine on the plane had ceased working.

            I was writing home that we were once again on our way when I felt a flat lurch-sudden stillness roared from the air vents. It lasted only a few seconds, but was of tremendous impact for I knew that the quiet meant the one and only engine had ceased working. Almost immediately, the motor began to roar again as though nothing had happened, but not before fear had gripped my heart.

            “What happened?” I shouted.

            “We have to set the plane down. I can’t take a chance of ruining the engine. The temperature is dangerously high, and I have no oil pressure.” Ted spoke calmly, but that did not alleviate my fears. I knew what that meant. An airplane without oil pressure…

            Adventure, danger, suspicion and resentment from those who did not understand what the missionaries were doing, and then…glorious victory! Thousands won to Christ, miraculous healings, cities touched by the gospel, new churches planted, workers called into ministry. About the Author

Edythe Adams and her husband, Ted, dedicated 25 years to adventuresome ministry throughout Brazil. The couple now live in Grant’s Pass, Oregon. Following retirement, Ted has returned often to his beloved mission field for conferences and seminars.
