About the Author
For the first eighteen years of her life, Ellen McCarty Anderson lived in
Her first book, “Not For Kids Only,” was published in 1984 by Abingdon Press. She has published numerous pieces of poetry and written lyrics for hymns, anthems, and other special music.
Learning about people and diverse life-situations has been an additional benefit of her employment experiences. As a teacher of both special education and elementary school children, she interacted with parents, children, and other educators. For nearly ten years, she was employed as Director of Community Relations in a local hospital where she met with patients, families, and medical staff dealing with life-altering decisions and health issues. For nine years, she served as Associate Pastor for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where, among other duties, she presided over weddings, funerals, and worship services. In 2006, she retired to pursue interests in writing, gardening, traveling, and enjoying her grandchildren.
Most important in Ellen’s life is her family. She lives in
