About the Book

Love Song in a Minor Key spans more than half-a-century, taking the reader on a journey of joy, sorrow, pain, and pleasure. Travel with the beautiful, gifted musician, Peggy Burns, as she discovers life, love, and betrayal.

Peggy’s relationship with her true love is impetuous and intense. The couple discovers competition only exacerbates their desire to be together. As each goes off to college, World War II intervenes and takes them down an unexpected path. The collateral damage dispersed by war is vividly demonstrated through two major conflicts.

As this gripping account comes full circle, Love Song in a Minor Key celebrates the resiliency of the human spirit. Inspired by a true story, Love Song in a Minor Key reveals the bittersweet saga of unending love.

About the Author

For the first eighteen years of her life, Ellen McCarty Anderson lived in Brookville, Indiana. She earned a bachelor’s degree from Ball State University and post-graduate credits at Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis.

Her first book, “Not For Kids Only,” was published in 1984 by Abingdon Press.  She has published numerous pieces of poetry and written lyrics for hymns, anthems, and other special music.

Learning about people and diverse life-situations has been an additional benefit of her employment experiences. As a teacher of both special education and elementary school children, she interacted with parents, children, and other educators. For nearly ten years, she was employed as Director of Community Relations in a local hospital where she met with patients, families, and medical staff dealing with life-altering decisions and health issues. For nine years, she served as Associate Pastor for First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) where, among other duties, she presided over weddings, funerals, and worship services. In 2006, she retired to pursue interests in writing, gardening, traveling, and enjoying her grandchildren.

Most important in Ellen’s life is her family. She lives in Kokomo, Indiana with her husband of 42 years, Tom Anderson. They have a son, Brett, who lives in New Jersey; a daughter, Tracy, son-in-law, Troy, and two grandsons, Max and Logan who reside together in San Diego, California.
