About the Book

Lebanon, 1902.  Hakim, a Christian rebel, is fighting against the oppressive Ottoman Turks.  Betrayed by one of his own, he is forced to flee to America.  There, the passionate youth finds his centuries-old Arab traditions challenged by a forbidden love.  He must choose between his duty to his family and the beautiful woman he cannot resist.

About the Author

David Abraham was raised on a farm in central New York State and is the descendant of Lebanese immigrants.  He earned a bachelor’s degree from Syracuse University and a master’s degree in education from the University of Idaho.  He taught history and served as guidance counselor, principal, and superintendent of schools in a career spanning over 40 years.  Now in semi-retirement, he has chosen to write about the diversity of cultures and the challenges that faced the immigrants who settled in the Mohawk Valley region of New York State.  This is his first novel.
