About the Book

The Great American Swindle is a mind-boggling story filled with action, lust, greed, conspiracy, betrayal, blackmail, fraud, injustice, suicide, and murder; a story which crisscrosses the United States several times between 1845 and 1971; a true, fully-documented story which has significantly altered U.S. history.

Hundreds of United States census records, certified documents, court transcripts, wills, deeds, personal letters, etc., prove the greatest swindle in our country’s history and its impending cover-up. Also how the swindle was accomplished, why, by whom, where the stolen billions/trillions of dollars are, and who controls them today. Names have NOT been changed to protect the guilty.

About the Author

The entire state of North Carolina was abuzz with the Mark Hopkins story throughout the 1970s.

Digging into the matter to satisfy an enormous curiosity, June Naugle became intrigued by the Hopkins Heirs, by their family legend, by their undying dedication to prove that Mark Hopkins, a member of the Central Pacific Railroad’s famous Big Four, was from Randolph County, North Carolina, not from New York as California historians so adamantly attest.

She admits to being “hooked” after meeting Estelle Latta and reading a few of the certified documents she spent more than 50 years unearthing to prove why Mark Hopkins’ identity was stolen, how the blatant swindle of his vast estate continued to flourish in secret more than 100 years after his mysterious death.

With Mrs. Latta’s blessing, June packed bags, stored possessions, and began the long, arduous task of putting the entire bizarre story on paper for all to see.

The first draft of this book was completed after more than ten years, and mountains of copious research; a labor dedicated to truth, justice, and the Hopkins Heirs’ unwavering determination to return their Great Uncle Mark Hopkins to his rightful place in American history.
