This is a sample of the first poem in my book. The book will take you through times of childhood, to adulthood, to the loss of a parent, and to my life after losing a parent.
I Went to Ballet Class with My Boots On The Songbird Still Sings
...a child chases a rogue balloon, and I turn away to leave, but then I stop to listen, I hear a songbird sing. I feel the warmth of her lovely song, that was written just for me. It’s a song of hope, through all the sadness, and happiness it brings. Now every morning I wake up, and sit among the trees. To listen to the songbird, sing her special songs for me. And I know that in her own small way, she healed me on Mother’s Day. For I know the phone will never ring, Yet I will always hear the songbird sing. This is part of a poem that I wrote after I made my choice to celebrate her life. Uncertainty ...use your childlike curiosity as a guide, for children look at freshly-fallen snow, as a place to form angels and snowmen, and no two are alike. They plod through the perfection and stillness, and they laugh, without worrying,
...while all the others twirled around me,
I awkwardly stepped in stride,
but to me you see those cowboy boots,
were a real source of pride!
I polished them on Friday nights,
to look nice for my Saturday rides,
while other kids loved their ballet shoes,
I was comfy in cowhide.....
This is a sample of a poem I wrote after visiting my mother at her resting place on Mother's Day.

About the Book
Songs My Mother Wrote is a poetic journey about my life with my mother and how I was able to make a choice about how I was going to handle the loss of my mother. I decided to celebrate her life. I hope this book can help others who have lost someone special overcome the grief and sorrow of loss.
Joyce Fizzolio died of lung cancer on July 8, 2004. She was a child, a sister, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, and a well-known and respected voice teacher.

My mother’s creative outlet was her voice. My creative outlet is my writing. During my time of grieving and loss, I found comfort in writing poetry. I was amazed at how my writing changed as I started to channel my grief and sadness into learning more about myself and my purpose and my healing.
We are all born with gifts and we must look at our gifts to bring forward the memory of someone special. This is my gift and I hope you enjoy the poetry. If you knew my mother, I hope it gives you a smile to remember what a dynamic and wonderful person she was in life.
About the Author
Carolyn Trocino is a native Californian whose fondest memories of her youth were riding horses, skiing in the local mountains, traveling, and writing poems. She shares her home in Old
Carolyn is an Equine Guided Educator. She conducts leadership training through the use of horses. Also, she loves dressage, natural horsemanship, and the vaquero style of horseback riding.
In addition, she has experience working in Fortune 500 companies and large, privately held organizations. Her specialties are in the areas of talent acquisition and learning. She earned an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a Master of Arts degree in Organizational Consulting. Carolyn holds the designations of Certified Equine Guided Educator, Professional in Human Resources, Certified Compensation Professional, and Certified Internet Recruiter.
