About the Book
The author of this book chronicles his life dealing with many mental diagnosises. At the age of 22 he had a serious episode of depression. He went on to have 6 (total) episodes over the course of his life. These episodes were going on after being with Westinghouse for 25 years and continued after that in the merger acquisition banking business. Despite this he went to college, and eventually obtained an MBA/Management degree.
His goal is to show that anyone with a mental diagnosis can be “happy, healthy, wise and responsibly wealthy.”
About the Author
Within a 6-month window, Jim Blaha graduated from Northwestern University with a BS/CPA degree, got engaged to be married and started a career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation on their graduate management training program. He gave up his career as a professional musician to pursue his paradigm…graduate from a great university, get hired by an outstanding corporation and find the love of your life. After getting married his first permanent assignment was in Buffalo.NY. He received his graduate degree MBA/Management from SUNY of NY. During that time he and his wife Barbara had 3 sons. He was promoted to corporate headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA, then to several divisions around the country as controller in financial and information systems management. After 25 years in a typical mid-life re-evaluation (crisis) he decided to become an entrepreneur. He became a partner and owner of a merger and acquisition firm in Oak Brook, Illinois. In 2000 they sold the assets of their firm and went their separate ways. Jim was an adjunct professor at Northwood University during the 1990's teaching management and economics. From 1975-2005 he had been very involved with the College of DuPage (Glen Ellen, Illinois). He was chairman of the Board of Trustees and served as Chairman of the Advisory Council to the Foundation Board. He belongs to many professional business and mental health organizations. Jim and Barbara spend half their time in the Chicago area and the other half on Okaloosa Island, Florida.
