About the Book

The EXPECTATION GAP is the gap that is created between one’s expectation and its fulfillment.  When your expectations are realized, you are happier; when they are not, you are unhappy.  This book will help you evaluate your expectations, determine how real those expectations are, and show you how to realize them and achieve happiness. Chapters are followed with a work-sheet to guide you personally to happy resolutions of your expectations.  Numerous articles and books talk about happiness, but this book defines happiness and identifies the role of expectations in happiness.  When you understand it, you’ll know how to achieve the happiness you’re seeking.

About the Author

James P. Leahy has earned an M.A. in Education from De Paul, and has taken many graduate level courses from the U. of Oregon.  He taught and counseled high school students for 40 years.  During that time, he encountered  problems involving teenagers, their parents, administrators and members of the community.  He came to realize that the center of almost all the problems lay in unreal and unrealized expectations.  After much research, he learned that this Expectation Gap had not been directly addressed. This teacher-counselor’s years of on-the-job observations, the careful analysis of the problems, and his experience in the trenches of practical application showed him how to bridge the Expectation Gap and help others find the Happiness that has eluded them.
