About the Book

One….Zero…..Nine…is a coming of age story that allows the reader to have an intimate look within the author’s mind set.  Get to know the meaning of three numbers that will take the reader on a roller-coaster ride of laughter, sadness, anger, love, empathy and realism.  The book provides a chronological order of life events that are connected, tied and branded by the numbers 1 zero 9.  Plunge into the book as Joey's adolescent carnal decisions mold his early adulthood and how one tragic window opens to another portal of love and success. Accompany Joey on his humorous and triumphant life journey through the roughest years of his life.  Metamorphic, Joey comes full circle and changes his lenses to see clearly a new young girl in his life. He extracts strength from his supportive community and family - just like an "alley-oop" pass in the game of basketball - and comes out on top with a "dunk".  1 zero 9 is a must-read not only for the “average Joe”, but for teenagers, parents, college and graduate students, social workers, teachers, professionals, the president of The United States and anyone else that will take the time to read.

About the Author

Embraced with charisma, passion, humor, loyalty and a “try, try, try, and damn it try it again” approach to life and social work, Joey Negron takes on an ever growing population of mental health.  Joey works as a Mobile Therapist/Behavior Specialist Consultant for children and adolescents that have mental health disorders ranging from Autism to Conduct Disorder.  Joey provides direct care to the client population; providing parenting, advocacy and educational skills for parents and their children.  With the unique blend of education, family values and allegiance to his social economic roots, Joey utilizes real life approach interventions to help his client population that is searching for guidance.

Within those roots, Joey comes across his “young love crush”, Naomi and eventually marries her.  With the help of his childhood crush and the positive impact of his community and family supports, Joey gained a Bachelors Degree of Sociology from Saint Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1999 and continued his education by earning a Masters of Social Work Degree from Marywood University in the year 2003.

As an avid sports fan, Joey embodies the Philadelphia extreme passion for their professional teams, but also has a little love for the Boston Red Sox.  Joey’s true love in sports is basketball and he has played, coached or was a basketball counselor throughout most of his life.  While driving and during leisure time, Joey likes to listen to hip-hop and R&B music.  He has also broadened his music genre to the likes of Kelly Clarkson, The Fray, Nickelback and some oldies but goodies such as Frank Sinatra, Johnny Cash and Marvin Gaye.  Joey currently lives in Reading, Pennsylvania with his family, fish and anyone else that needs a place to stay for the night.  For more information go to www.1zero9.com.
