ANOINTING OR MINISTRY? The first distinguishable difference in the prophetic anointing and the prophetic ministry is that under a prophetic anointing anyone and even anything can be used by God to speak or give the message. When we say prophetic, the idea is to “speak forth,” in the sense of declaring, interpreting and speaking the will and counsel of God. We must remember that anointing is predicated on Christ, the Anointed One moving in or on flesh to minister in an individual, group or corporate setting. Just because a message is given, that does not substantiate having a prophetic ministry or being a prophet. The story of Baalam in Numbers 22:20-35 is an intriguing story of God’s use of a donkey in the prophetic anointing. Hallelujah! Isn’t that awesome! Now who is it that can open the eyes of a dumb beast, cause him to see in the supernatural, and then cause him to speak? Don’t you just love God’s sense of humor? So, the donkey was a prophet? I don’t think so; however, he was used to give a message to a failing false prophet. You really need to read this scriptural account! It is both hilarious and informative.
