About the Book
The Lyre Club had stood for ninety years. Its musical connections had long since faded into history as had many of its elderly members. Of course some wag had re-christened it the Liars Club, due to the tradition of telling stories every Friday night.
Most of these stories were based in fact, but over the years they had tended to become increasingly outrageous as members vied with each other to get away with the tallest or funniest anecdotes.
So join the members and listen to tales of adventure, romance, war , crime, horror and just plain wishful thinking.
Twenty four stories guaranteed to make you laugh, and maybe even cry.
About the Author
Walter Beaney was born in Ipswich in 1945, those cold post-war days when everything was still black and white. And people were still called names like Walter. Following successful careers in the army and industry, he retired early to pursue his love of writing. As well as numerous short story publications, he has had six of his stories produced as plays on radio.
This is his first full length book, which looks back to a Britain which has all but disappeared now. His wicked sense of humour shines through every page, making this a very entertaining read.
