The day was June 5, 1990. It was a day as ordinary as the rest. It was a little warmer than the day before, and maybe a little more humid too. This was the day that I was born.
I was a regular baby when I was born, before any of my… abnormalities started to show up. They stayed at bay until I was about one-year-old. This was when the controversy began.
Maybe first I should back up and tell you a little about myself. My name is Ksena Isis Rulan. I personally think I was adopted or picked up or… something. I look nothing like my parents, a fact which is due to my abnormalities.
I started school a year early, due to good grades in preschool. I grew tall and slender, totally unlike my parents, who are both shorter than me by at least two inches and I’m only fourteen. Very young I became best friends with Emilie (a.k.a. Boa), we have been friends for so long that it seems like we’ve been friends forever.
Why ‘Boa’ you ask? Once in third grade we went to a zoo. She was the first one to ask: “Teacher, what’s that big snake on the other side of the glass called?” And our teacher replied: “That’s an Anaconda; it’s a Boa Constrictor, which means that it squeezes its food to death instead of biting and injecting it with poison.”
Then Emily walked up to the glass and said: “A Boa Constrictor? Hmm… I’ll name you Boa.” She has always had a weird connection with snakes ever since ‘Boa’ the Anaconda, which I’m obligated to tell you that an Anaconda is a Python, not a Boa Constrictor. She owns many various snakes now. Plus, she milks them for venom for the anti-venom that she makes.
Her nickname for me is ‘Ears’. Now I’ll tell you why. I have pointy ears. Why? No honest idea. I figure I’m some sort of science experiment gone awry. Good theory in my opinion. I’m tall and lanky, but muscular, totally unlike my parents, who are short. I’m currently five foot eight inches tall. They’re both under five feet six inches tall. Yikes.
Or maybe I’m one of those babies where they injected genetic crap into me while I was in the womb. My mom was pregnant with me and they wanted a tall, lanky, but still muscular, intelligent daughter (ooh, this is getting good). Only, something went wrong and my ears were transformed into the things I have today. Yep, that’s what happened to me.
Now I live in a calm suburb outside of Chicago in my two story house. I have never seen Sears
