Growing Up
My friends at school were a lively gang
“From the rough estate” Mum would say
We’d talk girlie stuff about boys we liked
And who we thought was a gay.
Then most of my friends, me excluded
Started to grow at an alarming pace,
They developed curves and needed bras
I developed spots on my face.
As they blossomed into young shapely girls
I’d stare in the bedroom mirror
And look at my pimples and greasy hair
And wish that I could be slimmer.
And then came the curse that affected all women
A drag at the very best
But there was a benefit – I’d get out of swimming
And watch in my pants and vest.

About the Author
After leaving school, I joined the Norwich Union as a Life Insurance Clerk, then I progressed my career with an international I.T. Company. It was while I was here that I developed my love of writing and the idea emerged that I would, some day, like to take it further.
By this time my poems and verses had become a hobby, but, following back surgery and an amazing spiritual experience, I decided to create my first book whilst recovering at home.
