Stromm Tower

About the Book

Two boys, Adam and Matthew, live in an ancient border Tower on the east coast of Scotland, of which their father is the custodian. The present and the past overlap linking the loss of a jewel belonging to Mary Queen of Scots during her flight from Loch Leven with the arrival of two suspicious men.

The boys foil the plot of the two men but in the process discover the real secret of Stromm - the Tower itself. A series of hair-raising and cliff-hanging adventures bring the story to a close, during which the boys learn quite a lot about themselves and their relationship.

STROMM TOWER was inspired by a family holiday in Scotland and a visit to Culross where there is a fine watching tower and a panelled gallery. Mary Stuart did in fact loose a jewel during her flight from Loch Leven.

About the Author

Born in 1937 Jeffrey Bell has been an Anglican Priest for over 40 years during which time he has been Vicar of parishes in Peterborough, Buckingham and Portsmouth. Educated at Yeovil Grammar School, he served his National Service with the RAF in the Middle East during the Suez Campaign.

He comes from a family with musical and artistic backgrounds, but also with Border Reiver ancestry and is married with three grown up children all involved in the performing arts. Over the past 20 years he has been involved in adult education and community service.

In 1994 he was awarded the degree of Master of Arts (Hons Causa) in recognition of his work with the University of Buckingham; and made an Honorary Canon of Portsmouth Cathedral in 2000. He now serves as assistant curate to the parish of Tilford in Surrey.
