Euan's Kiss

THE JOURNEY BEGINS

Euan was feeling quite sad, he had spoken to his Nana in England on the telephone but forgotten to send her a kiss before putting the phone down.  Oh dear thought poor Euan I always send a kiss, now Nana will think I don’t love her anymore. 

Euan’s Mummy noticed that something was troubling Euan and asked him what the problem was.

 “Well you see.”  Said Euan. “I forgot to send Nana a kiss before I put the phone down, and now she will think I don’t love her anymore”

  “I’m sure Nana won’t think that,” said Mummy.  “But there is something we can do if it is bothering you, we can blow her a kiss”.

 “Of course “, said Euan cheering up immediately.  “Where shall I send it from”?    “Well,” said Mummy, “I think the porch would be a good place “ Putting on his shoes Euan went out onto the porch with his Mummy he pursed his lips, and put his hand to them, and gave a huge kiss.

He opened his hand, took a great big breath and blew with all his might.  Off went the Kiss flying higher and higher into the sky ,Its little wings flapped up and down faster and faster as it circled the  house in Gastonia.  

 “ My Nana lives in England,” shouted Euan, pointing east.  The Kiss suddenly stopped circling and took off in the direction Euan had pointed.

Off it went dodging in and out of clouds, sliding down rainbows, and dancing in the little gusts off wind it found.  It was whilst dodging a rather large black cloud that the kiss bumped into a Bald Eagle.

  “Hey watch out there young feller,” said the eagle “you nearly had me off course “.

  “Ooh sorry sir,” said the Kiss,”I was just trying to dodge round that big rain cloud, I don’t like getting wet”.

 “That’s all right son, no damage done, ” said the eagle.  “But what kind of bird are you?” 

“Oh I’m not a bird I am a Kiss, in fact I’m Euan’s Kiss and I am on my way to England to his Nana”.

“My” said the eagle, “That’s a long way for a little feller like you, would you like to hitch a ride on my back for a while, and save those little wings getting tired?”

“Thank you, that would be very nice ” said the Kiss, and he hopped on to the eagles back and settled down amongst the soft feathers.
