About the Book

When five-year-old Madeline Drake is stolen from her home by a demon with a prosthetic arm, a tale of woe begins to unfold across time and space. The child’s father, Sebastion Drake, knows this heartbreak too well; in fact, there’s a family history of it. Only five short years ago, his wife was taken as well, whisked away to a freestanding doorway in the woods of New Jersey, where she met her end in a blasphemous, blue city known as New Babel.

Sebastion sets off to retrieve his daughter, along the way meeting amnesia victim Wren Patterson, lost guardian of the doorway and keeper of the legendary Jersey Devil. Together with her companion, the helplessly geeky Benny Pardue, the three set off through the portal to rescue the captured girl, only to discover a plot stuck between heaven and hell — a plot to bring the whole of everything crashing down on their heads.

Pop culture, pulp spirituality, black humor, and the mysteries of history set the backdrop for murder and mayhem as a bizarre cast of characters bungle the end times in a most satisfying manner. So, grab a good seat for the end of the world!

It’s going to be one hell of an apocalypse.

About the Author

Colin Hyde is an enigma wrapped in a riddle and swallowed by a whale. Some say he is the clever invention a secret cabal, others whisper his name in the back rooms of sinister temples deep in the forest primeval. Only these things are known for sure: He spent several years animating for Nickelodeon, teaching school, and writing comic books and movie reviews under a different name. He now lives in a secret undisclosed location, surrounded by strange art and wonderful toys, where he hunches over a computer and taps at the keys. Outside, the warm Texas sunshine blasts over the decadent highways and urban sprawl, but he shuns the great outdoors to write about talking black crows and murderous pink rabbits instead.

Born in California, raised in Texas, and baptized in the fires of New York City. This is his first novel.
