Every man faces a battle in his lifetime. Some fight multiple battles. Some fight one major battle. Although very few of us today actually fight a physical fight with our own hands and weapons, we, as men, still experience the rush of battle, the excitement of the fight and the feeling of success when crushing an enemy. This warrior spirit is the reason many men are drawn to the entertainment of playing video games, paint ball war, business ventures, hunting and sports. Such activities allow expression of the warrior nature that is inherent in all men. Unfortunately, the expression of the warrior nature is too often left out of our daily lives and daily battles. Many men play the games that allow them to have some sense of the warrior adventure, but excuse themselves from that adventure in the battles they face on a daily basis. Marriage, finances, relationships, pornography, overeating, self esteem, children, lust, doubt, fear, and many other areas constitute today’s battle ground for the warrior in this day and age. Regardless of the nature of the battle, many men excuse themselves from the battle. By excusing themselves from the battle, too many men experience failure, dissatisfaction with life and overall confusion about their destiny. This is because God created men to live a life of a victorious warrior and not a “what could have been” combatant.
