About the Book

The oldest of seven children, Samuel Smith Jr. began his journey more than sixty years ago in Kenansville, North Carolina. After graduation in 1961, he headed to Newburgh, New York where he married and had a son. In 1965 Samuel was ordained as a minister through The Church of God in Christ. He continues to minister in his travels and at a local R.V. park.


About the Author

The oldest of seven children, Samuel Smith, Jr. began his journey more than sixty years ago in Kenansville, North Carolina.  After graduation in 1961, he headed to Newburgh, New York.  There he married and had a son.  After thirteen years in New York, he moved to Tucson, Arizona, then to Yuma, Arizona.  He taught high school social studies in Yuma for twenty-one years and retired in 1997.

Samuel’s academic preparations include a Certificate of Graduation in mortuary science from McAllister Academy Institute of Funeral Services, New York City (1963); A.A. in social science from Orange County Community College, Middletown, New York (1974); B.A. in education from the University of Arizona in Tucson, Arizona in 1976; and an M.T. in education from the University of Arizona (1979).  Samuel also served two years in the U.S. Army (one year in Viet Nam) (1966-1968). An ordained minister through The Church of God in Christ in 1965, Samuel ministers in his travels and ministers at a local R.V. park.  Samuel is a licensed embalmer and funeral director in the states of New York and Arizona, and has received of recognition in the field of education and ministry.
