About the Book

This is a 24-hour murder discussion that ends with a solution.  Margaret Blackburn flies to Arcos, Spain.  She locates John Hansen with whom she discusses a crime both had witnessed at the New Year’s Eve party given by Michael West, the Wall Street tycoon.  The party had turned into a police investigation when a guest fell ill aboard the helicopter flying him in, and died on arrival.  The coroner had determined that his death had resulted from warfarin poisoning given to him while on board.  Margaret, who happened to be on that same helicopter, gets involved.  On an investigating tour across the globe, she stumbles on more than she had bargained for, as she’s shot at in Italy, and faces Middle Eastern arm smugglers in Argentina.  The visit to Arcos, the last leg of her journey, turned out to be the most enlightening, lasting less than a day, by the end of which, based on what John Hansen revealed to her, she solved the case.  Still, the denouement lead to no arrest and Margaret will explain her reasons in a letter she leaves behind before returning home.

About the Author

The author is a university professor and a pathologist in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. John Peter Dee is a pseudonym he has adopted since he started this series of mystery novels, beginning with Murders in Bermuda, then The Tragic End of Diane de Briare, The William Darby Affair, and now, Hopscotch Murders in Tuxedo. His hero is Margaret Blackburn, the attractive and brilliant British sleuth who settled in Bermuda after the death of her husband. He likes his novels to be light, old-fashioned, neo-Victorian, and tongue in cheek.
