“Something’s got me!”
We see Carla and Walker catch up to the fading light of the camera then disappear into the darkness as they try to keep up.
“Please!”
The camera moves smoothly backward; not like someone is running, in which case the camera would be bouncing up and down. In this case, the camera glides, moving absolutely smoothly backwards, like Jay is being dragged; he doesn’t even seem to be on his feet.
“Hay, Help me!”
The camera, and Jay, exit the room. The door frame comes into the frame of the camera.
Carla and Walker almost make it to the door when it slams shut.
The camera falls from Jay’s hands and drops to the floor landing on its side. It films the last moment of Jay Munson’s life as he screams wildly.
“Get this thing off me! Get it off!” We cannot see anything physically assaulting Jay but he is shaking violently like he is being punched in the stomach. He is trapped on his back. Something has him pinned to the floor.
“Please, stop!”
“Jay? Jay, buddy, we’re coming!” Walker screams from the other side of the door. We can hear Walker and Carla banging and kicking the door, trying to break it open.
Jay lunges up into a sitting position then is slammed back down onto the floor.
“Stop! Please!”
“Jay!”
“Oh, God, stop!” He is literally crying at this point.
“Jay!”
Jay frantically tries to ward off something we cannot see, something we are uncertain of whether or not even he can see. He waves his arms blindly in the air, trying to stop whatever assault is being inflicted.
“HELPMEHELPMEHELPME! Please, Hay, help me!”
Silence.
The struggle is over. Jay lies unflinching on the floor. His head is cocked toward the camera and he stares blankly into it, dead.
“Jay? Come on, buddy, answer me,” Walker yells. “Jay! Goddamnit, answer me!”
We hear the door creak open and Carla scream.
They rush to their fallen comrade. Walker lifts Jay’s head and upper torso into his arms. “Jesus, Jay. Wake up, buddy. Come back to us.” Walker checks Jay’s pulmonary pulse.
“Jesus Christ.
