About the Book

There will be nearly 200,000 new cases of prostate cancer diagnosed this year in the United States.  This is a cancer that can be overcome if men make the effort to have a yearly physical and their PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) blood tested by their primary health care provider.

In his book, Nathan relates how unexpectedly he was confronted with the possibility and eventual reality of prostate cancer through a sudden PSA elevation in what appeared to be a routine yearly checkup. He takes you with him through his psychological and spiritual experiences leading to the diagnosis, decision-making and ultimate treatment choice. He then allows you into the very core of his recovery beginning from day one following surgery. This is a book for men and couples whom would like to hear from a layperson what it is like to face prostate cancer head on.A no-holds-barred revelation, it will give comfort and encouragement to those who face this challenge as Nathan graphically relates “Things they may forget to tell you.” The book offers first hand commentary on the anxieties, expectations and realities from someone who has already been where you may be going. Finally, Nathan relates his relentless and lengthy effort to regain his sexual potency as he searches for the elusive erection.

About the Author

“Cancer is a dreaded word for any human being and I was no different.”

Shortly after being apprised of the prospects of prostate cancer Nathan sat down one day and asked God, “What do I do now?”  The answer was “Continue writing about your journey.”   He has been writing ever since, and in his words, “If the telling of my experiences with cancer will help just one person it will be worth the effort.”

This book is a continuation of writing the author began in the early 1990s when, he believes, God laid him on his back so He could get his undivided attention.  Nathan relates, “In my early days of experiencing God, I required constant attention getters for me to get the messages.  My mind simply wanted to be in the world doing the worldly things that I thought would bring me peace and contentment.  The only credential I have for writing is that I lived the stories found in my books.”

Also the author of The Reality of the Spiritual World Nathan has a third book, The Reality of the Presence of God, in the editing stage.

Nathan is active in interdenominational youth ministries in Memphis, where he was born and raised.    A chemist and engineer by education and training, Nathan finds time to write between managing his environmental businesses and his community projects.

A talented athlete and a good, but not great student, he was a senior at Christian Brothers University before he discovered his capacity to succeed in whatever he was led to do.    He lives in Memphis with his high school sweetheart, wife and soul mate of almost 50 years.  “You can survive cancer and reclaim your life,” he encourages his readers.
