Stunned, he looked around the room. He did not need another book instead his eyes fell upon a big jug with a small clear bottle, wrapped in leather, next to it.
“What is this one?”
“That is the jug of healing waters, it never runs out. You fill the bottle and take it with you wherever you go. When the small bottle is empty you can fill it from the big jug again. It will heal anything you wish.”
“If I had that the night Nodra…..,” he stopped. He knew what gift he would take.
Gerland left Mystic Mountain
“I know the pain in your heart but remember the jug alone cannot change destiny. Eventually, death comes to us all.”
Her words floated on the air never making their mark. Gerland’s only thoughts were that he had the power never to be hurt again. They parted ways at the edge of the forest, close to his cottage. Traveling quickly, lighter feet had never made that journey nor would they do so again.
He pulled Palvo out of his robe, sputtering Palvo shook himself off. “Hurmpf, what an imp you are Gerland. Have you no manners? One of these days you may pull
something out of that pocket that will surprise you!”
“Have you lost your sense of humor, old friend?” Gerland said with a laugh. Nothing could spoil this day for him, not even Palvo’s grumpy mood.
“Look what I have Palvo,” Gerland showed him the jug of healing waters.
“Yes, I heard all about your gift and the words of wisdom Evatar gave you.”
“Words of wisdom, is that what you call her meddling?”
“Gerland, do not get prideful. The tumble from that mountain is a lofty one.”
He left Palvo and walked briskly into the cottage, I don’t need all these people giving me advice, he thought to himself. A place was found for his jug, he filled his little bottle and put it in the opposite pocket that he had put Palvo in. Knowing him Gerland thought, he put a spell on that pocket and anything that goes in it will disappear. I’m not as stupid as he thinks I am.
