God’s Message of Peace: Memoirs New Book Describes Mother’s Prayers for Autistic Son and God’s Message of Peace to the World TORONTO – Morine Scantlebury Aregbe is the dedicated mother of an autistic child. Faced with the difficult task of raising him alone, she looked to her faith for answers. She presents her autobiography and diary entries about this walk with God in her new book, God’s Message of Peace: Memoirs (now available through AuthorHouse). From 1988 to 2004, Aregbe kept a personal journal that discussed her religious faith in relation to her care of her only son. Determined to discover what causes autism, she said fervent prayers and asked God – in every way she knew how – to enlighten her on this matter. The book gives accounts of her spiritual visions and dreams. In one experience, Jesus breathed on her forehead and told her he would show her what love is. In another, she saw Jesus looking down from heaven and saving people from all over the world prior to the earth being destroyed. For two consecutive years on Earth Day, Aregbe recalls having visions of Jesus in his crown of thorns. She writes that in a vision within a dream, God asked her to tell everyone on earth that: “No one reaches Him except through Jesus.” Her main focus throughout God’s Message of Peace: Memoirs, however, is her concern for the well-being of her son despite his disability. She chronicles his improvements, his interactions with normally functioning children and his experiences with doctors and members of the clergy. Her journal entries illustrate her deep faith in God and her love for her son. Some thoughts are expressed in beautiful poems. The book also contains specific prayers that Aregbe heard during her vision being offered up to Jesus from those he saved. “The book contains confirmation that the message of peace to the world is truly from God,” Aregbe writes. “And this mother found out what caused her son’s autism.” Aregbe was born in Barbados. She received her bachelor’s degree from York University in 1979 and taught in Nigeria. She left her career to care for her son full time.
