About the Book

Fellow Poets,

Thank you for taking some time to listen to my songs.  Like our sister and brother coyotes, songbirds and whales, we poets cannot but share our wistful, joyous, and sometimes mournful songs.  Poets sing even, and perhaps especially, in the solitude of a canyon, on lonely dark nights, and inside the throbbing aorta of relationship or a city.

Through poetry, I relate first to myself, then to the world and perhaps sometimes to others.  In a field the faintest, most monotonous chirps and trills convey simple messages of something learned, noticed, or remembered.  At some level in our beings we listen as dogs bark and crickets chip.  This world we share is teeming with confusion, wonder and the glee of life itself.  For those without hearing, I hope to help make your passage memorable.  Smile your smiles, sing your songs and live the poetry of life.

About the Author

Drawn by the thunder of literary cannon and anguished cries of women, children and men shrieking to be heard above the pounding of their own hearts, Michael stays near the cutting edges of poetry.  It is writing that allows him to navigate the frigid, dark chasms and airless peaks of life itself. Now middle-aged, he understands that by sunset of this very day far more life and cognac has evaporated than was consumed. A short poem of exactly sixteen words can represent a month’s dilligent tinkering. Balloon Money, however, crowned on a busy sidewalk and was delivered fully formed when scribbled against a second-hand store window. Mighty Marigolds took shape on a wooden bench in the garden of St. James of Pickadilly. Although we all breath, it is life we all seek. Michael Sea is living in Houston.
