“Devoted Attachment”
Chapter One
“Light me one of your Newports baby,” said Jennifer Danielle Horace to the love of her life and deeply beloved husband, Derwand Jimis Horace.
“Babe, you know good and well, I’m not letting you smoke a whole Newport, you’ll never quit like that,” answered Derwand who everybody called Jimbo. Jennifer who’d just began smoking two years earlier was the 20-year-old wife of the 20-year-old Jimbo. She was the 5’8” caramel skinned, curvaceous, well proportioned, lovely prom queen of their high school. They had dated since the age of 14 years old, in their freshman year when Jimbo arrived in their Dumfied, Virginia neighborhood from D.C., due to his mother receiving a promotion to a corporate position at a Virginia based branch of her job. Jimbo was a 5’10” wonderfully definitive bodied, pistachio colored, young black male, who every girl in the school had secretly adored and thought of as the finest boy in school since his first day. Jimbo was a basketball player and very talented as well. They had finally taken each other’s hands in matrimony the day after Jennifer’s 20th birthday. They had been engaged since the age of 17 years old, but Jimbo wouldn’t allow for the wedding to take place, until he could purchase a two and one-half carat diamond ring as her wedding ring. Jimbo worked hard seven days a week for years to purchase that special ring. They’d lived together since graduation day. Jimbo’s mother watched her son work two jobs to support himself. Jennifer and she were proud that he chose to work hard, instead of other routes that were appealing to young men who struggled to maintain. Jimbo worked part time at a Rec Center, but he worked full time at Mannie’s Sub-Shop, which was a sandwich shop. Jennifer worked at Mannie’s Sub-Shop with Jimbo and they were doing well paying for their townhouse, which they’d owned for a year and a half. They were definitely two lovebirds who had proved that love at first sight was still possible and very much genuine, as they had been together for six years straight which was surreal through the eyes of most.
Jimbo and Jennifer had plenty of friends, but they mostly spent their time with each other, as they were most content with the company of just themselves. They were dedicated to each other in every possible way.
“All-right, well save me a short of yours then, baby,” said Jennifer calmly giving into Jimbo’s considerate gesture of firmly standing strong in her attempts to quit smoking. Jimbo had been forced to endure the many fights and temper tantrums Jennifer had thrown for her to be allowed to smoke. He knew that she would soon get just as wild, fierce and crazy over her quitting, if he didn’t at least allow her to smoke his cigarette shorts.
“All-right but you’re not smoking anymore until tonight,” said Jimbo as they headed towards work early in the morning. Jimbo discovered an interest in writing poetry, but the more he attempted to write, the more he found that he could write nothing but love poetry to Jennifer. He was mystified by this discovery. Nevertheless, he liked the fact that he was a one-dimensional poet, because he thought she deserved all of his love through devotional words anyway. She had proved through her serious allegiance, dedicatory devotedness and constant affection, that Jimbo was her life and even more. Jennifer had never been with another man, or even experience the craving, or biological urge to be with another. She had been infatuated with Jimbo since her first moment within his presence. Jennifer had dated other boys since junior high school, but remained a virgin, until she met Jimbo. She was as pure in the sexual sense as any man could have wished for, when Jimbo swept her off of her feet. On the flip side, Jimbo was very skilled in the art of sex by his freshman year in high school. When he first met Jennifer he had been through so many women and girls sexually in his life already, that he could be considered a sexual connoisseur. Jennifer was the first girl he actually noticed his first day of school. When he laid eyes upon her, he thought to himself, ‘Oh, my God, I’ve got to have her.’ Jimbo succeeded on his mission of capturing the beauteous likes of the statuesque, almost unimaginatively, radiant Jennifer. Jimbo walked straight up to her and put his hands right on her face.
“Boy, what you doing?” snapped Jennifer, jumping out of reach of the handsome new arrival she had been stalking the whole day.
“It’s true. Damn!!” said Jimbo in a fascinated tone with a surprised look on his face.
“What?” said Jennifer calming down and feeling her face thinking something was wrong.
“Oh now, I just had to touch you my self, to see if you was real. I thought for a second you had been imagined in my sleep,” said Jimbo, with pure lust in his eyes.
At that moment Jennifer knew she would marry Jimbo.
Since that day six years previous to the present, Jimbo ha
