About the Book

Journey with us back to a time when the earth was young to lands and pilgrimages, pirates and villains, heroes, romance, adventure and laughter in our 2 part series audio book.

There is really not much that we know about Nick.  His relics, (bones) have been lost, stolen, hidden, and stolen again.  Somehow they supposedly ended up in the U.S. during the Viet Nam era in the protective custody of the C.I.A. (rumor) then shipped back to Bari Italy where they are enshrined to this day so far.   Some of his bones are said to still be in Turkey.

So… who can say what life must’ve been like for him? All we really do know about him is that he was an only child born into an incredibly rich, aristocratic family. Speculation but nothing concrete about his lineage or the names of his parents. I would guess that he was most likely betrothed from birth.  This sort of thing was normal for families of high esteem and political influence. He was orphaned in his teens and lived with his uncle and Abbot of a secret Christian monastery, became a priest then was quickly ordained as Bishop of Myra when he walked into a run down monastery in Palmyra Lycia (ancient Turkey), literally when he walked in.

He tossed 3 bags of gold into the home of a family that was in dire straits about to sell 3 daughters into prostitution-slavery to pay their debts and lost dowries, thus bailing them out. Details of this event are diverse.

He was never married as far as anyone knows and no one can say why for certain what his personal reasons were.  The mandatory celibacy restrictions imposed on priests didn’t come about for almost a thousand years.

All kinds of fantastic legends circulated about him as a dedicated wonder (miracle) worker, honest, a healer, a benevolent giver and a kind hearted man who went the extra mile and desired to emulate the life of Jesus Christ.

He was most famous for coming to the aid of the falsely accused.  He rescued slaves, turned tables, crashed pagan ritual parties literally.  He rescued mariners lost at sea in perilous conditions, performed miracles, supposedly confronted and slapped Arius, accusing him of blasphemy at the Counsel of Nicaea, getting defrocked for it and showed up in Technicolor in Constantine’s dream. He was imprisoned and tortured for his faith during the reign of Emperor Diocletian, getting leaned on by the powers that be for ruffling their stuffy religious and or hedonistic feathers.

The flying reindeer was a totally different time and place and not at all the same lad.  So, with all of that said,  dream on and enjoy the journey.  Thanks for joining with us and for  using an endangered species, our imagination.

About the Author

Howie Kaemerer has dedicated himself since 2001 to seeing this book go from a dream to reality in not only a text novel but as an audio book utilizing an amazingly vast array of talent in the form of actors, musicians and technical support.

He is a true artist in his music, acting, writing and drawings and understands the meaning of, “ A Starving Artist”, having sacrificed almost everything of material substance and comforts to create a work that stands alone as  a genuine work of art finding it''s rightful place in the world of literature and fine art.

He is not allergic to honest hard work and getting his hands dirty as he has proved to me, my family and community how he diligently, “puts his shoulder to the wheel” with every task he undertakes.

He has seemingly accomplished, if not the impossible in the shortest period of time, to say the least, he has accomplished the very most difficult and daunting task of putting together with an almost non existent budget an amazing masterpiece that takes the listener and reader on an audio and literary adventure ride into a fantasy realm almost 1700 years ago utilizing a few basic facts about an historical icon shrouded in mystery and legend along with a healthy bit of creative license.

All of this work was done while in transition from the Mid South to the West Coast to reunite with his Gospel hard rock band, “Saint” while recording 2 albums with them, work a full time job that whisked him around the West Coast, and do Cameo appearances on an all star project album in November 2004 and dedicate his time to his Church and prepare to tour.  Howie, how do you do it?

I am proud to be considered his friend.   He is truly a hard working peace loving, kind, gentle and thoughtful man committed to excellence in what ever task he puts his hand to.

H e goes the extra mile for everyone and gives over and above the call of duty.  He is a patriotic man who loves his country and stands for what he believes in.   God bless you my friend.  Steve Healton
