Zenia cleared her mind, and then she had to cover her ears because Weaponsmith screamed. Zenia had teleported the distance she wanted, but not the direction she wanted. Finding Zenia in her shower did nothing to improve Weaponsmith’s disposition, and instinctively she shoved her through the glass door. As she lifted herself off the floor, the subdued rage Zenia had toward her roommate, now wrapped in a snatched towel, boiled over. Zenia rammed Weaponsmith as hard as she could.
Their catfight spilled into the corridor. Zenia had teleported them there, Weaponsmith realized. She knocked Zenia down with the flat of her hand. Without a pause, she feinted with her right and gripped the back of Zenia’s head in her left hand. Weaponsmith would have run Zenia through with her bare hands had she not cried out in pain. Zenia turned and saw a thin red line on her antagonist’s wrist, and that shock drove her against the bulkhead. A red line appeared on Zenia’s cheek as well; at first she thought it was from broken glass, but it became evident that someone had touched her too. Both flashed a steel gaze at the newcomer, a female who wore silver body armor that seemed poured onto her. "Ladies, ladies," the sharp-skinned woman stated over them, "you should keep that business in your room."

About the Book
Zenia escaped from a concentration camp where super humans were tested to destruction. With her power of teleportation, Zenia became a reluctant participant with other heroes opposed to the legions led by the enigmatic Empress.
Across this changed, hostile world, Zenia and her companions met other outcast heroes. Among them were Macromind and Beacon, two members of the Superstars, the world's primary team of heroes, Touchstone and Belladonna, refugees from an alternate Earth, and the Seven Thousand, a guerilla resistance from a dark page of their pasts. Through their encouragement, Zenia became stronger than she had thought possible.
As old and new heroes prepared to face the Empress herself, not everything was what it seemed. Neither was Zenia . . .
About the Author
David Alvin was born in Winfield, Illinois, and his earliest experience regarding science fiction was viewing Star Wars with his parents when he was five. He moved with them to Georgetown, Florida and attended school in Crescent City. He later graduated from Stetson University and the Long Ridge Writers Group. David met his future wife Martha online, and they married in 2003. They now live and work in Minot, North Dakota. Over the years, David has also written many poems, kept a journal, and completed several (unpublished) short stories. Progeny is his first novel.
