Well it’s been a long day said Bill to Helen, why said Helen have you been left on the shelf again today, yes said Bill, I’ve been on this shelf for a week now, well said Helen I wish I had been left on the shelf, I was taken out by a little girl called Gemma, she was supposed to keep me for 3 weeks, but I am so pleased her Mother brought me back after the first week. When we left the Library, they got into a car, and Gemma threw me onto the back seat, and there was a big dog sat on the back seat, oh what did you do, asked Bill, were you frightened, yes very said Helen it started to sniff me, then it started growling at me, and I got very frightened, Gemma picked me up and then I thought I was saved, but no,Gemma used me to smack the dog on its head, shut up Dodgy she shouted to the dog, well when I herd the dogs name Dodgy, I felt even more frightened, and Dodgy started to growl and snarl at me, I thought my days as a nice book were over, then Gemma’s mother said don’t hit Dodgy with the book, put it on your knee, which Gemma did, I felt a bit safer then, until they took me into the supermarket, and Gemma insisted to her mother she was going to bring me inside the supermarket, I was glad to get out of the car, and away from Dodgy the dog, I think he would have chewed me up if they had left me in the car, I already had a headache, when Gemma dropped me onto the floor, if that wasn’t enough, she tripped over me, sending me flying across the floor, right under the wheel of a woman’s shopping trolley, Gemma picked me up and rubbed me up and down, her coat, that made me dizzy and hurt my cover, and ruffled my pages up, what happened next, asked Bill, all the other books in the library, were all ears, even Denzil, who is normally asleep Gemma kept pestering her Mother, Pat, for some sweets, in the end her Mother gave in, for some peace and quite, and bought Gemma some sweets, then they finished the shopping and went back to the car, I thought I was going to be put on the back seat again with Dodgy, the dog, Gemma kept me in the front of the car, on her lap, all the way to her house, Gemma’s house looked very nice, she took me inside and it looked very nice inside, Gemma put me on a chair while she sat on another chair, she started eating her sweets, while her Mother Pat, put the shopping away, and she put Dodgy the dog in the back garden, thank goodness, then all the books in the library including, Adele, Alice, Agatha, Tommy, Cliff, Cindy, and Denzil, who was still a awake, that’s just to name a few, asked, were you ok then? Helen said, when I thought it was all peacefully and quite, a Great big black Ferocious Cat, with Big white fangs, came up to me, oh no said all the Books in the Library, what happened to you, I was very frightened, it started to stretch up to me and started sniffing me, what with dodgy the Dog, and now a big black ferocious Cat, with big white teeth, what is coming next I thought, my pages began to quiver, then the big Cat jumped up and sat on top of me, I thought it was going to attack me, but it just sat on top of me, squashing all my pages, it sat on top of me for hours, my pages couldn’t move, it just sat there making funny noises, and I kept thinking when is it going to eat me , I was very scared, then Gemma’s Mother, Pat came into the room and said it was teatime, I though my time was up, the big black cat moved, I thought it was going to get me oh no said all the other books in the library, then Gemma stood up and went into the kitchen for her tea, and the big cat jumped down onto the floor and followed Gemma into the kitchen, that was close said Denzil yes said Helen, Gemma’s mother started shouting at Gemma, she shouted you are not eating your tea because you have eaten to many sweets, and with Gemma’s mother shouting, Dodgy the dog and Tiger the big black cat, came running back into the living room where I was, my pages started to flutter again, with fright, then both of them walked round the room looking at me in turn, I thought oh no they are going to get me, and rip all my pages apart, and Gemma and her mother are still in the kitchen then suddenly the other door opened and Gemma’s father walked in, and dodgy and tiger ran to him, and then Gemma and her mother came into the living room, they all said hello to each other, Gemma started to cry, what’s up said Gemma’s dad, Gemma’s mother said I have shouted at her because she hasn’t eaten all of her tea, because she as eaten to many sweets, Helen thought what a shame what about me, I’ve nearly been eaten, and I am not crying, then Gemma’s dad Duncan, put Dodgy the dog, and Tiger the big black cat, out in the garden, I then thought oh good peace and quite, I am safe at last, then Gemma picked me up and flicked my pages very fast, this hurt me and I didn’t like it, and her fingers were very sticky from eating her sweets, because she didn’t wash her hands before she had her tea, oh how awful said most of the books in the library, this made all my pages stick together, I didn’t like this at all, but I didn’t no what was In store for me, next Gemma’s mother Pat said put the book down, what do you mean when you said what’s in store for you, asked Denzil, yes tell us said all the other books in the library, well said Helen, Gemma’s mother Pat, told Gemma, to go and have her bath, Gemma said, but I want to read Helen, no pat, said, go for your bath, but mummy I want to read Helen, said Gemma, I want to read Helen, said Gemma, again, can I take Helen, with me while I have my bath, no said her mother, but when her mum and dad were talking to each other, Gemma, took me upstairs into the bathroom and hid me under the towel, then Gemma’s mum came into the bathroom, and ran the water while Gemma got ready, then her mother said come on the water is just right for you now, so Gemma got into the bath and her mum said to Gemma, I will be back in a few minutes, did you like going into the steamy bathroom Denzil asked Helen, no I did not, but that’s not all, why surely you were safe there, away from Dodgy the dog, and the big black cat Tiger, said Denzil, you would have thought so, but no, oh no said all the books in the library again, what happened, Gemma, took me from under the towel and started to read me, holding me with one hand, and washing her self with a bar of soap with her other hand, I could feel my self slipping closer and closer to the water, oh no said all the books in the library, weren’t you frightened of drowning, I was terrified said Helen, and then Gemma, dropped the bar of soap into the water, and then my fears came true, she let go of me to try and catch the bar of soap, and I fell into the water, and sank to the bottom of the bath, oh no shouted all the books in the library, what happened next, how did you get out asked
