What To Expect From A Police Academy

At a very young age, my dream was to become a police officer.  The day I realized this, I lived my life to the fullest, keeping my mind on the career I wanted to pursue and choosing my actions wisely.

      My taste of reality came to me on a chilly, March morning in Phoenix, Arizona.  As I arrived for my first day of Police Training, I was nervous, but very excited.  I was taking the initial steps toward my dream career.  As a young boy, my dreams of becoming a Police Officer were filled with images of driving cop cars, chasing the bad guys and being the “Superman” of the world.  After a few short days in the academy, my dreams became reality, and I soon realized that there was a lot that I was not prepared for.

      Throughout my Academy, learning came to me by trial and error.  Unfortunately, it happened more from error than trial.  At last, that glorious day had arrived.  Shielded with my, “Golden Badge of Honor”, I accomplished my goal and graduated from the Police Academy.  As proud as I was of myself, one thought came to mind, “If I had only known.”

      My hope for you as future Law Enforcement Officers is to be ahead of the game.  These pearls of wisdom, useful tips, and practical advice were compiled to help you succeed in fulfilling your dream of becoming a Police Officer.
