About the Book

True Dog and Cat Tales

We all have fond memories of our own pet dogs and cats who enriched our lives as we grew up. The stories of the 350 dogs and cats in this book will arouse remembrances of the readers’ own pets, long gone or those still living.

These stories tell of dogs and cats living in the United States and abroad who have led remarkable lives. There are tales of the lost and found, of heroes, working dogs and cats and celebrities.

Greyfriars Bobby and Hachiko show such enduring loyalty and devotion to their dead masters that their stories have become legends.

Murka and other cats and dogs exhibit determination, endurance and an uncanny sense of direction to make the long trip home after months or years of being separated by hundreds of miles from their owners.

Some stories will cause a chuckle, some a tear. All will inform and bring a renewed respect and admiration for the intelligence, ingenuity and sensitivity of these amazing little creatures.
