“CRONE”
To traverse a road,
An old hag.
All her own,
A burlap bag.
Bulging, a possession
Not to be shown.
Clasp to crone tightly,
Hidden contents unknown.
And with a walk leaning,
Naught to a burden light.
E’er her way onward,
Was to a toil of plight.
Cause to her, naught to none
The way to bear and alone.
To traverse a road,
Burlap bag all her own.
The way on and gone,
As to naught not to lag.
E’er on, e’er to be,
Burlap and old hag.

In the African Sudan,
The sun is blistering hot.
The winters are dry and arid,
The summers wet and quat.
On the hot wet savannah
Where the high grasses sprout,
The trees are short and thorny
And the Wildebeese graze about.
