Introduction
Have you ever fell flat on your face spiritually, looked up and knew in your heart that you have disappointed God?
If we are truthful with ourselves all of us would admit that we have. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).
There will be times when you fall flat on your face, even if you are save and have made Jesus Lord and Savior of your life. We often fall short because we make choices that do not line up with God’s will for our lives. This is God’s way of how we should do things. The Bible is His book of principles that we need to abide by to have a happy, healthy, prosperous, and fulfilling life.
Every decision that we make in life is not specifically listed in the Bible. We should still take every matter to God in prayer. “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
(Proverbs 3:5-6).
All of us have a purpose for which God created us. Our job is to ask God what that purpose is so we can get busy fulfilling it before we leave this earth. Jeremiah is a prime example that God has a purpose for our lives. God spoke to Jeremiah saying “Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou cameth forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations” (Jeremiah 1:5). Jeremiah knew what his purpose in life was by talking to God. Even when we know our purpose, we still need to seek God for direction in knowing how to fulfill it.
The only WILL that will be established and last throughout eternity is God’s WILL. He will not bless, support financially, keep together or stand behind anything that is not HIS WILL for our lives. “And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.” (1 John 5:14-15)
From the cradle to the grave, life is a journey that every man has to take. It will consist of the choices we make which contribute to our life experiences, victories and defeats. The journey will also be smooth and sometimes rocky depending on our obedience and disobedience to the word of God. We have to remember that this journey is all about fulfilling the plan which God preordained for our lives.
So when we mess up and fall short of God’s glory for our lives we do not have to give up and quit. There is still hope. We need to grow to the point in our lives when we sin and get off track that we confess it to God so He can help us. “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). God made provisions for our sins when He sent Jesus to die on the cross. God knew we needed a Savior that is why He sent Jesus. Even what people think are the worst of sins can be forgiven. Now there is no excuse to leave known sin unrepented. Leaving known sin unrepented leaves us open for judgment. The blood of Jesus will cover these sins. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord”
(Romans 6:23).
To confess according to The Random House College Dictionary means to plead guilty. Confession to God is not reasoning and blaming your sin on
