A horn sounded in the background. Two, three blasts, one closely following another; then silence. Bili almost missed the sounds, so intent was he on helping Wulpai against the creature. The Old Hermit''s powerful laughter nearly drowned the urgent calls of the horn.
Bili, catching his breath, realized the women were in trouble. He broke off his attack, pounding furiously back toward the fire. Meri was releasing her last arrow as he arrived. Hagred lay on the ground, two arrows in one leg, a vicious cut on the other. Rimwai was holding a large firebrand she had used to club a goblin senseless.
“Where''s Wesip?” Bili yelled, panic welling up in his heart!
“Goblins have taken her!” Rimwai screamed. “Over there by the path!”
Bili, stopping only to pick up a fallen spear and thrust a fallen dagger into his belt, raced to the pathway, panic written all over his ashen face…

About the Book
Isolated for nearly five hundred years, an eastern tribal culture becomes embroiled in a fight for survival. A giant roc fleeing to the west is intercepted and brought down by battle hawks. It hurls a package into a pond as its dying act. The package, retrieved by a young warrior and his sister, proves to be one of the missing stones of power. These warriors are thrown into a maelstrom of adventure as they attempt to return this and a matching power stone to the west, the last stronghold against a growing menace that threatens their world.
About the Author
Dave Scorza has spent several years working overseas as a linguist and translator among different people groups. Finding a wealth of cultural tradition among these people, he has recorded much of their lifestyles. A fantasy buff from early childhood, he read the classic works of P.Anthony, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, LeGuin, Lawhead and others.
