Good Conversation
‘A mutual search
For the essential things’
What a joy good conversation
Brings!
At sea,
In the mountains,
By a blazing fire,
In the open air.
Wherever the time
Or the place
You find
The chance to explore
Another’s mind.
An exchange of thoughts
Ideas that soar,
Between those
Whom life
Can never bore!
Few joys of life
Can quite compare
When men, good conversation
Share!
Who’s Boss?
Tommy
Is the household cat
He dominates,
And that’s that!
He knows
(Without the least debate)
That this
Is the decree of fate!
So he ignores
All idle chatter,
He is mind,
And we are matter!!
Old Age
There is a beauty
In old age
A harmony
You’ll find,
A mystic luster of the soul
That shows time can be kind.
The body, true
May waste away,
But mind and soul
Their strength display.
The fragile frame
That guards ‘the whole’
Transparent now,
Reveals the soul.
For years one views
The physical…
So obvious
So visible!
But
When Autumn’s end
Is near…
Then one sees
The spirit clear!
